Our services include a talk from a different speaker every week, often followed by a discussion. Services feature Jaime Taylor on our fully restored stereophonic pipe organ, and/or Frank Chen on piano. We always finish with morning tea and opportunity for friendly socialising.

Death Café Comes to the Unitarian Church

Speaker & Worship Leader:- Barbara Thomborson

Death Café is an event where people discuss their understanding, thoughts, and feelings about death. Barbara Thomborson will facilitate the service to enable small group discussion of questions inspired by Death Café. They include practical considerations, experiences of death, grief and loss, and cultural aspects of death. This service follows on from last month’s End-of-Life Choice service with a brief talk on cultural aspects of death.

NZ Suffragette, Annie Jane Schnackenberg (nee Allen)

Speaker:- Randolph Hollingsworth
Worship Leader:- Viv Allen

To commemorate NZ Women’s Suffrage day 19 Sept.

Randolph taught history and women’s studies for over three decades. PhD in U.S History (University of Kentucky), MA in Teaching (Colgate University) and AB in History (Vassar College). Currently, she is active with the National Council of Women of New Zealand and serving as the Newsletter Editor for The Circular. Also active in creating and/or contributing to Wikipedia articles related to New Zealand women’s history. Randolph is quoted as saying; “I believe that the teaching and learning of history can serve as a form of civic engagement.”
